Arts and Culture
A culture comprises a set of customs, social norms that are essential to form a sense of community and the arts express its collective voice. The DC Kizhakemuri Foundation fosters cultural awareness through a diverse range of cultural engagements at different points in time annually.
Propagating the reading habit
DCKF has over the years consistently propagated the habit of reading by donating books to juvenile detention centres, prisons and labour camps in the UAE among the Indian diaspora.
The foundation donates books worth crores of rupees to publicly funded rural schools in Kerala every year.
Story telling sessions are organised in schools under the foundation’s auspices, introducing children to the fascinating value shaping world of stories and inculcating the reading habit.
DCKF frequently conducts reading sessions, seminars and workshops that enable authors to interact with their readers.
DCKF has donated a rural public library to the community in Pullikkanam, a hamlet near Vagamon, bestowing an initial collection of 3000 books and periodicals.

Education
Scholarships For Needy
Our founder DC Kizhakemuri nurtured a conviction that quality education formed the bedrock on which a society progressed, a lifelong commitment to the propagation of literacy. Extending his vision to a contemporary milieu in which education remains a fulcrum of social uplift, the DC Kizhakemuri Foundation awards scholarships to students from various social strata. Meritorious, economically and socially disadvantaged students, those enrolled under the Kerala government’s ‘Nirbhaya’ scheme, children of retired and serving defence personnel, have all benefitted from an education at DCSMAT educational campuses managed by the foundation. Many students from these institutions have gone on to post-graduate studies and secured campus placements with corporate entities.
Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
Personality development, career counselling sessions and outreach programs are conducted in schools in the vicinity of our educational institutions.
The NSS unit at DCSMAT, Vagamon undertakes rural community development initiatives that include the construction of houses and roads. Even though the objectives are often challenging, benefits accrued to the community give us an immense sense of satisfaction. Outreach programs on hygiene, disease prevention and bio-farming are also frequently conducted as part of this initiative.
Our community healthcare initiative in Vagamon organises a free medical camp annually offering nutritional counselling and physical therapy sessions, besides blood testing and donation.
‘Envirothon’, a social event staged by the foundation every year, seeks to promote an imperative awareness of sustaining existential harmony with nature.
The institutions under the purview of the foundation conduct training programs on collaborative and transformative leadership for functionaries in government service and public sector undertakings.
The DC Kizhakemuri Foundation has established a health centre at DC County, Pullikkanam benefitting both, the residents of educational campus and the local community.
